JDID is Jamie and Dougie Martinson: a husband and wife team creating homes, art, and one-of-a-kind spaces together in Kansas City. She is the artist and the designer. He is the strategy, the technology, and the follow-through. Every project gets both of us.
JDID began in our own living room. Before we ever had a studio name, we had a house that needed love and a family of five living inside it. So we rolled up our sleeves and started transforming it ourselves: one room, one mural, one weekend at a time.
Along the way we learned a hard lesson: not everyone who works on your home treats it like a home. We hired help that let us down, and we felt what it is like to live inside work that was not done right. That experience became our standard. If it is not good enough for the house our three kids grow up in, it is not good enough for yours.
It also led us to Nick McMackin. We have worked side by side with him on project after project in our own home: we trust his construction, and he trusts our design. Somewhere along the way, neighbors started asking who did our rooms, and we realized our community deserves this too.
We live in the work we design. Now we bring it to the homes around us.
Hi, I'm Jamie, the artist, interior designer, and creative mind behind JDID. With a background in fine art and a lifelong love for interiors, I'm happiest when I'm painting, collecting one-of-a-kind thrifted finds, or transforming a space into something completely personal.
My style is collected, colorful, a little unexpected, and never too perfect. I believe the best homes are filled with personality, meaningful pieces, and things that tell your story, not whatever happens to be trending.
Whether I'm creating a custom painting or helping bring an entire room together, my goal is always the same: to make something that feels uniquely and unapologetically you.
Hi, I'm Dougie, Jamie's husband and the other half of JDID. My background is in data and analytics, and at JDID I put that same brain to work behind the scenes: the brand, the website, the numbers, and the AI tools that help our studio run like one twice its size.
I handle the business and operations side of the studio so Jamie can stay where the magic happens: at the easel and in your home. I'm the one reading the data, answering the emails, and making sure every project runs on time and on budget.
Jamie brings the vision. I make sure it gets delivered.
